Renee Burgess
A lifelong Irvington resident, Renee C. Burgess has served in the New Jersey State Senate since 2022, representing the 28th Legislative District.
Her public service began in local government, with roles on the Irvington Board of Education and Township Council. She served on the council from 2014 to 2022 and as council president from 2019 to 2022.
She brings experience in community organizations and municipal administration to her legislative work.

Burgess earned an associate degree in business from Essex County College, a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Pillar College, and a master’s degree from Metropolitan College of New York.
Her experience also includes the Irvington Housing Authority and founding the Thurgood Marshall Area Block Association.
